Gentle. Effective. Life changing.
Change usually doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in small steps—through gentle changes in the body that help the nervous system feel safe again.
The body’s stress responses—like tension, tightness, anger, the urge to fight, or even shutting down—are not mistakes. They are smart survival strategies that helped protect us when we didn’t have enough support, safety, or choice.
Over time, these responses can get “stuck” in the body. Muscles stay tight, breathing becomes shallow, and the body acts like it’s still in danger—even when it isn’t.
Somatic work doesn’t try to force these patterns away. Instead, it approaches them slowly and with respect. The tension and even the anger often carry energy that once helped us survive.
Healing begins when we gently pay attention to the body and add what was missing before: a sense of safety, support from others, choice, and the ability to go at our own pace.
With enough support, the nervous system can start to relax. The body softens. What once felt like “fight energy” can turn into strength instead of defense.
Little by little, the body learns it doesn’t have to hold on so tightly anymore. The tension can release—not because it was wrong, but because the support that was missing is finally here.
“I am convinced that for every physical, non-yielding condition, there is a psychic counterpart in the unconscious mind.”
